I have a 1990 Evinrude 115. It had an overheating problem that was mild and I disconnected the alarm wire on one side. The motor runs well, it pumps water and sucks oil. Recently it started setting off the alarm. It is an intermittant chirping alarm that occurs when going close to full speed. I can turn off the motor for an hour and then start back up and after a short time at low speed I can gun it and the alarm goes of immediately, not like it overheats. I have recently put this motor on a new boat with new feul tank and controls. But it didn't start doing this until I had been using it for 2 months. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Alarm problem Evinrude 115

If the alarms go on and of in random and i guess the motor dont get enough fuel.
I had this prob on my john 175 faststrike.
It started with random beep at full power.
I did check all my hose to the fuel and also did a clean on my fuel filter...ta da..no more alarm.
So maybe you got some "dirt" in the filter or hose.

Good luck
daniel@carlskoga.com
