This one is truly a Cadet question and probably the first of many!
First time with a Merc but from looking at the posts I guess I have a good one!
It's a 1988 175hp Black Max on a 20ft Chaparell, I had it out twice and it runs sweet! Slightly erratic on the Temp but the gauge only has 1/4 lines with out numbers so that will be one of the first things to be replaced.
It does sound a couple of alarms though and I have no clue to what they are?
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Nitefish, You should invest in Merc shop manual if you plan on keeping your rig.

If you are hearing alarms don't run your motor until you figure out why it's sounding. That motor won't be running "Sweet" for long with an alarm sounding.
CU

---------------------
RUNNING THE MOTOR WHILE LISTENING TO THE HORN WILL MAKE YOU MORN!!

Thanks for the responses!

Didn’t run the motor for long – but I needed to demo before handing over the cash!

It is a - beep, beep, beep – and only with the key on with out the motor running so that would explain the oil injection problem sound!

Will do on the manual!

Make sure the oil tank (on the motor) is completely full and purged of air....

When you first turn on the key, 3 beeps is normal, then the beeps should go away when the motor is running.

Ok, I have a Clymer Manual and looked up the oil injection and it explains about the reservoir on the motor in addition to the 3 Gal tank. But they make no mention of purging the air out? I will look into doing that tomorrow! Any hints on how to di it or is as simple as a purge valve on the cap?

Run the engine and loosen the cap on the small tank on the engine and wait until oil come out. Then tighten it ever so light, just enough to seal as they have a tendancy to split at the top of the threads.
