Alaskan 1800 rub rail problem

Just bought a 2009 Alaskan 1800 ss and am I ever excited. I fish between narrow concrete bridge piers occasionally for BIG cats. My old boat would rub and I didn't care. Any tips on what I could cover the rails with to protect them from the concrete.

I just tried some clear PVC hose with a 1.5 ID, split it and it covered the rail fine. My concern is with wave action the hose will move up or down and not provide good protection.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks.
