Had the boat cover for about 10 years, bought a new tarp this year, an old billboard sign for $25, 14' 8" x 46, cut it down to 32'.
Saturday night to Sunday an we had an Alberta Clipper pass through. Temps dropped from 42 to 17 and the wind howled 30 to 40 mph, don't know how strong the gusts were but they were even more intense.
Sunday about noon I walked down the drive and noticed there was a little issue.
Pulled the boat out of the way and managed to get the frame out the trees.
Most of the corners were bent beyond repair. Broke out the chop saw and some 1 1/4" tubing and the welder. Fabbed up all new corner brackets. It has had a few issues over the years and the tube supports had been replaced by square tube.
Ended up with a couple small holes in the new tarp, but it is still very functional.
With the help of my son we were able to get the tarp on despite 13 degree weather and 15 to 20 mph winds.
Took about 10 hours to rebuild. We'll see how the rest of winter treats me and the boat. I have upgraded the ropes to the rock filled buckets and now the frame is lashed to a tree.
The craziest thing was the lack of damage to the boat. There is some dirt on the edge of the cover and a small 1 1/2" scratch on the hull, no dents.
Someone was watching over the boat, is there a Patron Saint of boats under storage?
