ALIGNING CONTROL CABLES FOR NEUTRAL START

I replaced my control cables on my 1987 Force motor and OEM controls and now I get nothing, not even a click, when I try to start the motor. I presume I did not get the linkage correct. I have tried without success to adjust this linkage. Any suggestions? Is there a way to bypass this neutral switch to start the motor and then reconnect?

Thanks,

Questbldr

Re: ALIGNING CONTROL CABLES FOR NEUTRAL START

I believe:

Install shift cable, adjust to actuate neutral switch.
Then attach throttle cable and adjust.

(some models may require the reverse sequence)

Yes you can manually activate the neutral switch, but it is dangerous. At the very least, remove the prop and barracade the propshaft before doing it.
