aligning water tube to pump

I just put an extension kit on my 78 johnson 25 hp. Im having a heck of a time aligning the water tube to the water pump.Does anyone know any tricks or secrets to make this easier...

Actually, I don't know why you are having a problem. Millions of similar motors have been built and people don't have any problem. You can just look in there and see what you are doing.......Unless you are bolting the extension housing to the gearcase first. It should be bolted to the exhaust housing first, then install the lower unit to it.

On one LU rebuild I did the tube had been bent or modified by the PO. I bent it back as close as I could, but still had to use a long thin flat screwdriver to align it with the rubber fitting. A third hand would have really helped.
