Re: alignment of 4.3

thanks bondo , had other problem , I had used the old front motor mounts , they were to high so had to use the ones that were on the new engine they are about 1 1/2 inches shorter then the ones that were on the old engine . seems a little odd that there was that much difference but at least now I can get the alignment bar to enter -into the coupler about 1 1/2 inches with some marks on the top so I should be able to get to line up now just have to adjusted now. after re reading the manual I see where it said to torque the rear mounts .," had a senior moment"

I'm a little confused by you terminology. You would have to take the complete out drive off to check the engine alignment. If you reinstalled the upper gear case and left the lower off, then you shouldn't run it because there's no oil in the upper gears. However if you still have the complete drive removed, you can connect a garden hose to the line coming from the transom plate and fire it up.

+1.
But, make sure you have water flow.
Remember that half of the exhaust is rubber and plastic.
Without water you will be in trouble in about 15 seconds.
