Do you know anyone who works for a machine shop. they can spin one out pretty quick. or your local dealer can probably loan one out.

Both Very good Ideas, but it was too late saturday afternoon and now no one is open, HOA is going to have a FIT come monday morning and the boat and drive are still sitting out. Oh well I'll just cram it back on. What can it hurt right?

Sorry Bro. the bigger hammer doesnt always work, might better wait till you have the alignment bar. chances are you will do damage to the system without it..

Re: Alignment Tool

Yeah, I know, I was going to buy one but my friendly boatshop down the street told me not to that I could use theirs when ever I need it, time slipped away this morning and they closed at noon, I called at 1230! Oh well, My bad relying on someone else. I'll get my own for next time but in the mean time...maybe I'll just part the boat out! The drives already off with new u-joints! Mods, please dont take this as selling, trading etc, I was being sarcastic.

yep, get your own bar. then they'll be relying on you... i've had the opportunity to lend my bar out to three folks so far. one brought it back and said he'd bent it. he was just foolin me, the creaton. it wasn't bent. another was an iboat acquaintance. he just lived down the street from me. haven't seen him in a while but he seemed an honest fella and brought my bar back too. unbent... anyways, it's a good item to invest in. just be sure to keep track of it... ;)

Re: Alignment Tool

As long as you know what kind of outdrive you have, alpha one, bravo, etc..you should be able to find one on e-bay. I bought mine on there for $40.00, brand new they could cost any where from over $100.00...
Do NOT install the outdrive till you have this tool as for you will damage the gimbal housing.

You can't damage the gimbal housing because you don't use the alignment bar, you won't get the drive on, but you sure won't damage the housing.

Re: Alignment Tool

I mis spoke earlier. What i meant to say was you could prematurely wear out the gimbal housing if you did NOT use the alignment tool. I speak from experience, lol

You might wear out the gimbal BEARING, but you will not wear out the gimbal HOUSING. The housing doesn't make contact with anything that would cause it to wear out.
