I asked the top mechanic at a local boat dealership why I should have to realign my engine since the mounts seemed totally solid and it all went exactly back in the way it came out.
He claims that in "scores of boats" that he's worked on, only one really needed an alignment due to bad motor mounts and owner messing it up in reinstalling his engine.
So, I am a little confused, but, if I slide the old shaft back in and it goes really smoothly is there really a need to realign anything or check it out further, or is that guy, who seems to have a solid reputation, out to lunch?
