Just confused as to why after removing the outdrive, would the engine need to be re-aligned with the alignment tool.
Wouldn't the engine need to be moved in order for it to be out of alignment, or put back into alignment?

Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Alignment ?

It shouldn't have to be adjusted. When you pull the drive you use the alignment tool to "CHECK" the alignment. If it suddenly needs adjustment then you found it early and need to find out why it needs adjusted. Is the transom rotting? Maybe a rear mount failed, or even the front mount came loose.

Re: Alignment ?

I have wondered the same question the OP has. So I take it that the alignment should be fine unless mounts, stringers, or transom has failed or changed? But also, if it turns out the alignment is off, would you be able to visually detect coupler damage?

Re: Alignment ?

You are going to have only a limited view of the coupler through the transom assembly So, severe damage might be visible.
