Re: all in one dash instrument

Start by looking at the all-in-one ground (-) connection.

I don't know what comes in the new boats, but I assume this is analog and not a set of digital readouts.

If analog, 18rabbit is right. To kill all your gauges there must be some common problem, and the ground is the best spot to start looking.

Just look for a common wire/pc board trace that goes to all the gauges - the minus side if they are marked.

If these gauges are all on a PC board like auto instrument panels, take a very close look at the board, especially where the wires attach. You might see a hairline crack somewhere. Make sure you look closely - I use a jewelers loupe. If you find one just resolder/repair.

Can you describe what you have in a little more detail (analog/digital, mounted on a PC board vs. all wired, etc.)

Re: all in one dash instrument

I agree with Jack L, The circuit board has "traces" or connections that carry ground and +12V to all gauges. It sounds like one of the traces has a hairline crack that is causing either the ground or +12V connection to be lost.
Get a DVM (digital volt meter) and follow the circuit board traces and find the loss of ground or +12V. Once you find the break, scrape the trace and solder over it.

With half working and half not I suspect all the working ones are grouped together. Something like the right half works, left doesn't.

If so, start looking between the working and not working guages. The broken trace is probably somewhere around there.

waterone1 is rigt, a DVM is very important tool to have to fix the problem
