I just finished reupholstering my new toy. Still have a lot of work to do to make it dependable on the water. Thought you guys might like to see some of these pics. Replaced all of the wood, redesigned the bench seat in the back, and added a console. Padded the motor cover section and covered it. It had carpet before. Tell me what you think, good or bad. I upholster furniture for a living, this was fairly simple, but time consuming. Thanks, love this site!!

Luckily I picked up the foam for free where I work. Had some old styles of furniture they didn't need foam for anymore. What I did spend was on the staples, fiber, spray glue and wood. That was about $200.00 total. The vynil I found real cheap at $5 a yard. Bought 5 yds Blue and 8 yds white. Plus I replaced all of my screws with stainless steel, those are expensive. All in all about $300-350 in the entire job. I couldn't find 1/4" treated plywood so I bought exterior grade and stained it. If I didn't do this for a living I wouldn't have attempted. I've been upholstering for about 6-7 years now. I will eventually have my own shop one day I hope. Doing some on the side now to help pay for my hobbies. If I can help in any way let me know. Thanks for your replies, all of you!!

m*a*baity,

Nice looking job.

You said, "I upholster furniture for a living, this was fairly simple, but time consuming."

Just curious. What made your boat project more time consuming than a normal furniture reupholstering?

Where I work we build new furniture, Bradington-Young, is the company. The foam is cut ready to put on there. All of the wood was pretty much rotted, so I had to re-cut all of it. I redesigned some of the panels different from what they were, and some were missing all together. Plus we had been working a lot of overtime the weeks I was working on it and maybe I was a little more tired than normal. Brain wasn't clicking as fast as usual. Working on it mostly in the evenings til sun down it took about 3-4 weeks. Whoever reupholstered this boat the last time done shotty work so that was a little more time. Plus I was on a budget and trying to waste as little as possible. If I had a bigger shop and work area, It might not have been so bad. Had to work on one thing at a time, due to limited work area. Plus I have done way more furniture than boats. Thanks, Mark
