Hi Y'all ...Happy Christmas!!

Just a couple of quick questions that you may be able to help with concerning the manual on the 3.8.
Head bolt torque settings seem too high in the manual.
Can anyone confirm what they should be?
Any sequence?or just from middle outwards and start say 30lbft and increase up.

Looks like I have found a couple of riser manifolds that may fit this machine.
They are mercruiser 9745 and riser 4354
This chevvy though has the trim motors very close to the front of the block and not sure if will hit the manifolds
Anyone had experience of fitting these parts tothe 3.8 229 cu in V6?

Forgot to mention...tappet settings...just binding and then one turn with valves at tdc firing stroke?

Thankyou for any help
We just need to get this back in the water for the new season
I'm starting to miss the fishing even!...and its freezing at the minute.

Head bolt is=65-80 ft lbs

Manifold to head=45-55 ft lbs

Should fit past the trim cylinder.

Yes start in the middle at say 20 lbs and work from the center out.

Put a drop of oil under the lip of the bolt so the torque values will be correct.

Good luck ! Do not over torque or you can pull the hole out than the block will be junk.

And i like to chase the holes with a tap, and vacuum the holes, to make sure there is nothing in the hole.

Good luck !
