All bass fisherman realize the importance of a good hookset.
While fishing in about 4 ft of pinweed, other weed and mud I decided to get on the tip of the nose to get a better view of the openings. As I did I felt a bite on my plastic worm so after a second leaned forward and commenced my great hookset.Unfortunately the fish had meanwhile let go and I went off balance falling backwards into the water. As I surfaced,5 things were evident:
1.no fish 2.did not let go of the rod(most important)3.the depth of the mud was one foot 4.water temp was about 78 and 5.my partner in the boat and the two boaters nearby were laughing hilariously.
Needless to say,as a true bass fisherman it hasn't stopped me from getting back up on the tip of the nose but not when the water or weather is cold.I also have a tendency to step down before the hookset now.....
