I purchased two new 350 MPI Horizon's in 2001, and had them installed in my 28-foot GlassPly. I have put around 1400 hours on them, and about every 300 to 500 hours I am replacing a raw water pump because of bearing failure at the pully. When the first pump went out, I thought the belts were too tight, so I tightened them just enough to stop the squealing. That didn't help. The alignment looks good, and the alternaters are just above the pump and with one belt for everthing. Salt water travels the belts and takes them out too, thats how you know there's a problem when your travling not by overheating. I have been through six pumps. Thanks for your site Deckloaded, if you find anything out please email me.

Re: All wet Merc. raw water pumps

I replaced my Mercruiser pump on my old boat with a bronze pump purchased at Boat/US. I seem to recall it was a Jabsco.

Tom
