Well, we had a fun day at the lake yesterday, all except for one cove that was a smidgen shallower than I expected. Once I realized we were in skinny water, I throttled down to avoid wrecking the motor on a log or stump. You guessed it -- planted the lower unit in the mud. Well, with some very judicious motor tilt and the kids way up in the bows, we managed to get turned around and out of the cove.

Started to motor away and looked back at the motor -- no pee! Intake screens were gunked up. Cleared them out -- still no pee. Time to pucker up and give a nice high-pressure kiss to the pee hole -- pop! Let the family fun resume.

Fortunately, that was the stupidest thing I or anyone around me did on the lake, so I guess you'd call that a success. BTW, I'm a member of the drain plug club, the dead battery club, and the left-the-bilge-pump-running club. Still trying not to join the left-the-transom-straps-on club. When I do, you'll see me back here!

Now there's a man who loves his lower unit. ;) Good fix though!

that's the fun of boating--getting into, and then out of, situations.

Non-boaters see things like that as disasters and catastrophes, and lots of them (who shouldn't be out there) are clueless about simple fixes. They just want to ride around and look like a Sunday driver in a car.

You know, in some states that's illegal. Especially with kids around!!
