I had a problem with my 40hp outboard engine cutting back on me at higher
speeds, as if something was wrong with the carburetor or fuel system.
I'm thinking, this isn't supposed to happen, as I use fuel stabilizers regularly.
It would run perfect at slow and sometimes middle speeds, but after a minute or so, it would cut back, as if air was being sucked in, or maybe something was wrong with the carburetor.
So, before tearing into the carb, or taking it anywhere, I thought I'd better look over the basics. As I was checking the fuel line, it seemed to be stuck, and sure enough, a couple of inches of fuel line was stuck under the battery.
I repositioned the battery box a couple of weeks ago, and somehow the corner caught a bit of fuel line, and pressed on it. It didn't matter at first, but after a couple of weeks, the weight of the battery had that rubber hose just about flat.
Glad I decided to check the basics, before doing anything else.
