alpha 1 gen 1? How much HP will it take

I am new to boats but not to cars and gears. I have a 24' Searay with a mercruiser 260. The engine has been worked on ..Dyno reasults later for low end so I can cruise @ 3K nicely. My question is,,,How much will the drive take? it is an alpha 1 gen 1 with new merc parts and a 1.5 ratio. My guess is the engine will be up 20% from stock , so somewhere in the area of 300hp and 360 ft # tq. Is the drive ok for this set up??

Lot depends on the way it is driven but basically 300hp would be the max recommended for that drive. I'm sure people have run more than that though.

For 2 years a 454/330 was in front of it. Then came the Bravo. Just make sure your brain is connected to your right hand, and you won't have any problems. The reason these drives grenade gearsets, is because the operator is ham fisted on takeoff. YMMV.
