alpha 1 gen 1 shift interupt switch

1988 5.0lx /alpha1 gen 1 ,i switched from TB4 to a delco est distibutor kit ,and i need to check to see if shift interupt switch works correctly ,boat is on trailer now ,so can i set up a 110 gallon plastic tub and run motor and check switch ,will it give enough resistance to work and check switch, or why in tub water disconnect switch ,and see if it doesn't work ,id rather do the first ,has anybody tried this ?

No need for a tub (and putting the engine in gear will make all the water in the tub leave, real quick, even at idle)... All you need to do is run the engine on flushers and press the shift lever... If the engine stalls, it's working...

just remember that switch applies a ground to the ign system that may blow the ign fuse. If that happens you need to wire the coils + lead thru the switch and the other switch wire to switched 12V
