Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive...using a bit of fluid

I have put 24 hours on the engine since April 1st and the resevoir (sp?) has gone from the "full" line, to just above the "add" line (not quite to the point where it needs to be added).

I do not think this is normal consumption...in my mind it shouldn't "use" any.

I do not see ANY leaks...ANY where...whether I'm in the water looking for an oil slick, or when on trailer.

it can be no more than 3 ounces from the "Full" to "Add" lines (I'm guessing)...so 3 ounces in 24 hours of run time seems like a lot.

Can anyone tell me if they do use some, and if so, would this amount be normal?

Thanks

It shouldn't use any oil. Pull the outdrive, may have a bellows full of gear lube. If it's dry there, drain the gear lube and do a pressure check of the drive.

Thanks, I will do that.

Is there any potential harm in not doing this ASAP?

I plan to do a full bellows job this fall.

Kind of a 2 birds 1 stone type of thing.

yep

take don's advice and pull the drive, inspect the bellows for lube/holes

then drain and pressure test the drive
