At the end of season I had a very very small amount of outdrive lube leaky out of the prop area when the boat was on the trailer. It was about a week after a drain and refil and a cpl hours of use. There was no water in the outdrive. I pulled the outdrive and pressure tested it over 24 hrs and spun the prop several times during the 24 hrs. The pressure never dropped. The outdrive was resealed and water pump installed 2 season ago and I put about 20 hours on it since (total hours 120 ) I checked the prop shaft seal for fishing line etc and there is nothing obstructing it. Any ideas or thoughts ?

Did you also turn the yoke, and the shift shaft while pressure was on? Also, pressure test at 3 or 4 psi before taking it to 15.... I've seen many seals hold at higher pressure but fail at low...

Try doing the pressure test at a much lower pressure, like 3 or 4 psi... Often seals will be ok at higher pressure but not a low...

I tried a lower pressure and nothing. I refilled and getting ready to install . I noticed on the shift rod as it enters the out drive a seal that does move upward when I rotate the rod by hand is this normal ? Should it remain seated in the case?

I reduced the pressure spun every thing still nothing - I'm going to install the out drive . I did notice the shift rod that goes into the out drive has a rubber seal which moves a little upward as I rotate the shift rod ( while out drive is on bench ) is that normal ?

The rubber seal should not move... May be a good idea to replace it....
