Hi all,
I have a 1994 mercruiser 4.3 with a GEN 2 drive. Sorry I don't have the serial numbers right in front of me, I know they start with OF0--------.

Before installing the drive, I pressure checked it and it held 15 PSI for about an hour no problem.

After installation, it "seeps" oil out the starboard side weep hole about where the upper and lower units connect.
It does have the oil reservoir on the engine with the hose running to the drive through the "dribble valve" ( I think that's what it's called )...

Is it possible that the oil is leaking around where the dribble valve is meeting the drive and seeping down to the weep hole?
I have a new bell housing gasket on it that has the built in o-ring for the dribble valve.

What do you all think ?

Thanks,
wncrjb

It's a quick disconnect valve, and yes the gasket should seal it. Did you check the surfaces on the drive and the bellhousing to make sure they were claan and not damaged?

I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago with my '95 Gen II. In my case, it wasn't the rubber tube/QD connection that was leaking. There's a fixed oil pass through between the upper and lower units. Just aft of the water pump housing on the starboard side. There's supposed to be a small rubber seal (kinda like an O-ring) that seals the pass through between upper and lower units. The seal is ~1/4 or 5/16 inch diameter.

Hi Don, I did inspect the area before assembly, used a new gasket and did torque the drive nuts according to the manual........

I do have another gasket here, would it be worth it to try it again but this time put a film of sealant around it?

Thanks
