Alpha 1 Gen II water impeller questions

Hi<br /><br /> I've got a 3.olx merc that i bought the water impeller kit for.<br /><br /> When I look in seloc it does not clearly show how to replace the water pump base ( seal carrier)<br />. The instructions are muddy about replacing the seals within the seal carrier unit and how to position the unit corectly on the shaft.<br /><br />Can anyone give me a bit more info?.<br /><br />Also does the 1995 merc upper drive shaft housing yoke set thing have perma lubed u joints or do they need a be, shoulda replaced every (so many) years ?<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />thanks

The water pump base on a gen II drive is really just a plastic cone with two seals in it. <br /><br />Just pry the plastic cone out with two screw drivers, and replace with the new one that should have some in your water pump rebuild kit.<br /><br />Make sure you grease the seals and the o-ring with 2-4-C or some other good marine grease before installing the new base.<br /><br />Scott..
