After launching my boat i found that the lower half of my drive had a small burst over the winter (water inside), can i get any mileage out of drive the way it is? can i make it to other side of lake by brothers' house? will it damage anymore than just the lower which already needs replacement?

Ayuh,.... Mileage,..?? that means it's gotta go Further than a mile, huh,..??..??

It needs to be Outa the water to do anything...
If ya didn't notice there was No oil in it,...
I gotta believe alota other things that shoulda been done,....

Is it correct that all alpha 1 lower halves are the same, the gearing changes in the upper half?
I'm trying to get to my brothers house on other side to make the repairs.

If it is at the front of the drive it may be in the shifter well. I've had 2 drives with that damage when I bought them. They worked fine, but you should make a repair with JB weld and keep the drain hole clear. Keeping the drain hole clear is something to do even if it isn't cracked.

If you had oil in the drive, it shouldn't have frozen.

If the gearcase cracked and the gears are exposed to the water, then I doubt you will make it to your brothers house. If he lives on the lake, have him come tow you over.

And you will need to get it out onto a trailer to change
