So I put it in neutral again . Hit the gear disconnect button on my shifter ,gave it some gas and it was still in drive . Managed to get it in neutral and it stayed there forever lol. Had to get towed back in. Figured it was cable related but didn’t want to damage the drive. Got home pulled the drive real quick and found this …. I replaced the lower shift cable a few years ago. Not even sure how this pin attaches to the arm. Is it just pressed in? What do I buy to fix this ? Just the arm ? Thanks !

Needs a new arm (Merc call it a 'lever'). Part number -45518A3. Never seen the roller fall out before, but I guess there's always a first time. ;)

Sweet thank you! I’ll get that ordered and a new screw/pin . Had to drill it out since it was seized in there. It did last since 1990 with almost 1000 hours . Probably did 10s of thousands of shifts lol . Sucks it didn’t break when I did the lower cable a few years back. Super easy to pull the drive at least .

I'm pretty sure the easiest way is to split the arm with a cold chisel to remove it. Have you ever upgraded that upper seal/ shift shaft bushing yet? Now's the time to do it if you haven't.
