I am currently getting my new 1991 Bayliner Capri ready for the water (just bought it) and am changing the outdrive oil. I drained the oil last night and this morning when I prepped to fill it (from drain hole with pump) I had oil oozing out of the vent hole as soon as I removed the vent plug. What does this mean?
I'm guessing that it was over filled, but why didn't all the oil drain out overnight? Is the filling proceedure for this outdrive different from my 1988 Alpha one? Is there areas in the top of the outdrive that don't drain properly if it is overfilled?
This is a 1991 Mercruiser 3.0L (sn D610831) Alpha One (sn OD559854). Also, can anyone tell me if this is a generation 2 Alpha One?
Thanks for your help!
