Have 90' Mercruiser Alpha I with single lever shifter. Had removed the shifter etc when new interior was installed and neglected to note how neutral ring was oriented behind shift lever.
The shifter's face plate boat (boat with arrows) is for a starboard installation but my boat was delivered with the control installed on port side so my faceplate is incorrect.... not sure if this matters, could be just a incorrect faceplate.
When putting the shifter back together I made a guess with the index mark (dot) at 6 o'clock position but questioning if that was right. Was unable to adjust shift cable for reverse. Swapped lockring to 12 o'clock position but still no gains towards remeding reverse issue.
Anyone know what the correct orientation/position is for this neutral lockring.
