Alpha drive play in prop shaft

Hello,
2008 Mercruiser Alpha drive. The propeller shaft has about 3/32" (its more than a 1/16th, less than an 1/8th inch) play in and out. the prop is tight on the shaft. the whole shaft is moving in and out.

Is this play normal, or in an acceptable range?

I would take the prop out and reseat it . Has it been removed and reinstalled recently ?

Mine does the same thing. I showed it to the mechanic at the dealer where I bought it and he said not to worry about it. I appreciated his honesty, not trying to get me to spend money on it.
