Hey Guys,

Well my little 4.3 Alpha Gen 2 Mercruiser LX is leaking powersteering fluid, if I top off the pump to full, it will go down in about 2 hrs of boating. Do you think it is-

1. The Ram-steering actuator?
2. A hose, either return or powerside?
3. The pump? I have visually looked very hard at the pump and can't see any leaks.

My hunch is its the Ram. If it is, I am seeing them on Ebay and used ones are about 90 and rebuilds/reseals are 120-140...

Any help will be appreciated!

does it appear in the bilge, ? Yes=easy to find
No, I`d suspect the power steering cooler is leaking.

Yes it does appear in the bilge, and some will drip out when I remove the brass bilge drain. What do you think?

wipe everything clean.

remember, fluids run down hill. never up hill..

once ya got a general idea where it's coming from. if ya still can't find it (like i couldn't find a leak once). i put flour or the likes on my most suspicious area of where i thought the leak was coming from. the flour gets wet where the leak is..

i also like to take digital pics of the offending area if i can't locate a issue sometimes. i can hold my camera in places that i can't see. snap off a few random shots and put them on yer computer. look for the leak in the comfort of your home..

best i can do for ya.
