Trying to replace upper shift shaft bushing/seal on Gen II (OF 249325). I read on here to replace "older" style (23-806036A1) with newer style (23-805041A2). My question is will this work correctly and do I just press bushing upward till it 's flush with bottom of Gimbal housing?

Well, I found out today that this is incorrect. The OD of the new style, 23-805041A2, is 13/16" and the old style. 23-806036A1, is 11/16". So how are you supposed to press the larger diameter into smaller size of the gimbal housing???? I will have to order the old style for my OD...

Sorry, the 23-806036A1 is the new style and is what should be in your bell-housing.

I thought the Gen II's already had this "upgraded seal/bushing installed in them... the older style was for us folks with Alpha Ones and..... Achris you ready.... other drives made before the Alpha One ;)

Re: Alpha Gen II Upper Shift Shaft Bushing

My apologies to "achris". I had this wrong. The 23-805041A2 is the "older" style or earlier with the seals installed into the bushing. I found it in my FSM. Serial numbers from 0D644651 to 0F094774 will have "earlier" model 23-805041A2 and OF094775 and above will have "later" design 23-806036A1. Sorry, somehow I understood the seals already installed into bushing was the newer design....
