Hey people,
may someone have a look at the Youtube video and tell me, if it?s ok to drive like this?

http://youtu.be/cumTvKJ7J6g

It?s the ball bearing of the lower outdrive part. (Right between the waterpump and gearhousing).

Most likely it?s not ok, so is that hard to replace?

Thanks in advance,
Andy

As a non-alpha expert only as someone who understands bearings, I don't see an issue. Bearings work under a certain amount of preload, even the alpha manual indicates to install a preload tool fixture before measuring backlash of the gears below.

pull the driveshaft upwards and try the same test. that shaft is drivin upward by the cut of the gears to set the bearing preload.without putting upward pressure its hard to tell is its loose.

Hello people, thank you! If we pull the driveshaft upwards, it feels a lot better. So we are going to drive that thing for this summer and then we will see.

Best regards,
Andy
