Alpha One cracked water tube

The water tube has a hairline crack on the outside of the bell housing. Its very small I almost couldn't see it. Do you think its safe to run for a little, there shouldn't be any stress on that part it probably had some water left in it and froze. The one in the picture is plastic but mine is copper.

I really wanted to spend this weekend on the lake, not pulling the outdrive Why do i have to check everything so meticulously.

if yours is copper just have a plumber come out and solder it for you.. That part should be underwater but if its cracked you wont get the pressure of water your engine needs to keep cool.

I'd replace it. There is a chance it could be cracked on the other side too. Why take chances on a repair when the part can be replaced for a lot less $$ than the motor.

How long do y'all think it would take to pull the outdrive to get to it. Maybe I can barrow a cherry picker and pull an all nighter to have her ready for the weekend

Correction: I think ill have to pull the bellhouseing to get to it

You don't need a cherry picker to pull the drive. It is heavy but not that heavy. I do it by myself.

think of it as a great chance to check your bellows for leaks and to inspect the ujoints.

That's not exactly a silver lining. I guess its more like bronze... or pewter maybe lol

if you find something else wrong it would be gold lining cause it might of saved you a whole lot more money in the future.

Seriously though you can have the whole drive pulled and bellows done in less than 2 hours if it corporates
