Long story short, I changed my gear oil but didn't fully tighten my fill plug when I was done. So I got water in my lower unit so pulled the plug and I drained it. However the reservoir inside the engine compartment didn't empty. Is this normal? I took the hose off and removed the reservoir to tip and drain it, bc I'm goin to quicksilver high performance. There is still lube in the hose to wherever that goes lol. How do I get that out ? Is there a clog somewhere ? Thanx for any help you can provide

Did you take the cap off the reservoir? Probably built up suction in the line at the bottom. If it hasn't been taken off and cleaned for a few years, there may be sludge build up in the bottom of the reservoir and blocking the hole.

I didn't take cap off when I drained. I did take reservoir off and empty / clean it real good as it was clogged. Oil from hose appears to be now draining from fill plug. Do I need to worry about possible water/oil mix stuck in the gears before I refill ? Or is that insignificant amount ?

So you're saying you have now removed both the "fill" plug and "vent" plugs? And maybe moved the drive with the trim switch all the way up and down to make sure any fluid has completely drained out?

If so, refill according to procedure with the cap off and go boatin'.
