Drive serial number 0B612075
Transom assembly serial number 0B667146

I've got an Alpha One Gen 1 on the boat I'm almost done restoring - hoping to splash this coming weekend. I pulled it apart a little over a year ago, rebuilt the transom assembly (using the Mercruiser kit PN 30-803097T) about 6 months ago, and am going to be reinstalling the drive in the next few days. There were a few parts left over from the rebuild kit - not sure if the kit is universal for Gen 1 / Gen 2 and some of these aren't used on Gen 1, or if I'm just missing where they go.

I looked at the exploded parts diagram and see the big black o-ring is supposed to be on my drive, but I'm not sure where it goes. Then there are the three red o-rings - I don't think these are to seal the water passage, because there is a black o-ring that fits that (not pictured).

Not sure if the bag shown is the bag these originally came in or not...but it's the bag I had stuffed them in until later. Just don't want that part number to throw you off if it isn't correct.

Appreciate any help you can give.

the large rubber ring is glued inside the gimbal housing The small orange O rings go on the inputshaft, and the larger O ring would go in the middle of the inputshaft if there is a groove for it

Appreciate it! No groove in the middle of the input shaft. Where does the large rubber ring get glued into the gimbal housing - got a pic or video to help show it? I honestly don't remember pulling the old one out when I disassembled the gimbal housing earlier this year.

The large rubber gasket will fit perfectly inside the bellhousing. There is a ridge in the housing that is the exact height of the gasket .This ridge should be sanded clean and wiped with acetone prior to glueing the gasket in.Do a practice fit in the housing and you will see exactly where it goes. The larger o ring gets glued in just to the left of where you will be installing the large gasket in the water passage.Practice fit it and you will see very plainly where it goes. The other 2 Orings go onto the drive shaft in the grooves near the Ujoints. The pic of the kit looks exactly like an Alpha one kit.Charlie

OK, I see where the big rubber ring goes. So I just put it into the bore of the bellowing as deep (closest to the bow of the boat) as it will go? Use bellows adhesive?

And then do I need to grease the inside of the rubber ring so the drive installs easier, or no?

Sounds like you got it .Yes to the glueing of the large gasket.Glue the 2 contact sides of it and YES grease it thoroughly before installing. Also grease ujoints via zerks and all over the outside of the joints to assist in sliding through the bellhousing. As BT DR stated 3m trim adhesive works perfectly .
