Just spent a few hours getting the bellows back on omy alpha one gen2.
This was my first time doing this and there was some learning involved without a doubt. im going to say that its not hard but its not easy. I used the oem bellows for all of the bellows .
The shift bellows was pretty tame not an issue. I used the tool for the gimbal bellows sleeve and that was my really stumbling block actually sliced my pinky on the sleeve ,that sleeve is freakin sharp. I have a heartland alignment tool with the sleeve accesory to do the job but it took me a few attempts and some power tune to use the tool correctly and get the sleeve to fit in correctly.
Next i went after the exhaust and realized the shift shaft had to come out to get the expander tool in there. I used my heartland bellows expander tool and fooled with it for a few minutes and then like magic I pulled the tool back and holy smokes I wouldnt have believed it if i wasnt there the darn bellows was exactly where it was supposed to be.
I also replaced the shift cable which was a pretty straight forward job.
After I was all done I stood back and took a mental inventory of the whole deal and really it wasnt too bad,the project but right then I realized that I forgot one clamp on the intake water tube that connects to the gimbal housing
. So ill be back at it tomorrow hopefully i wont have to take off too much to get that clamp on . Thats what happens sometimes
All in all though im happy to say for my first time it went "pretty" well and would have no trepidation having to do it again and i gues i just might have to.
Thanks to Iboats and all the great people here for advice and tips.
P.s. anyone have any thoughts on how much of the work ill have to do over to get that fergin clamp. Im thinking if i take off the exhaust tube I might be able to get to some access. It would be a shame to have to deal with the sleeve again Id probably wreck the sleeve if i had to get it out. what say you guys? The clamp is # 18 in the manual the clamp holds that heavy duty tube to the bell housing assembly its of the hoses that bring raw water to the engine . Hose #17
