I'm trying to remove my lower unit to service the impeller. I have removed all of the bolts and nuts and the sending unit as the manual says. I can wiggle the unit to see a small gap between the upper and lower unit at the front but I cannot get anything to move in the back. Are there any tips as to how get the unit to free up so that it can be removed. This boat is a saltwater boat.

Did you remove the bolt that is only accessible when the trim tab is removed?

There should be 7 fasteners that need to be undone. One nut up front, two nuts just behind that on either side, 2 nuts under the drive behind those, the allen-headed trim tab bolt you get from the top and the hidden allen head bolt that you get from the bottom that hides under the trim tab.

Are you following the instructions in your service manual? (It has great diagrams showing all the fasteners to be removed).

I have removed the trim tab, four bolts (2 each side of case) nut at front. I'll look again under the trim tab. Thanks.
