Alpha one gen 2 - retaining ring/sleeve came out

Hey all. I generally store my drive off boat and last year when I was removing it the drive-shaft bellows metal retaining ring/sleeve came out with the drive. Bellows are about 5-6 years old but in great condition.

Question is can I just re-seat the retaining ring or is the safer thing to do, just re-glue the bellow and/or replace them?

on a gen 2 I dont think there is glue on that side of bellows.

you can just put a new retaining ring in, but I would check the bellows condition closely before doing so. If they are OEM bellows they should still be in good shape. While this is fresh water my factory bellows were still water tighten when I changed them at 18 years old.

Likely it got poped out installing or removing the drive.

Thanks! I get the boat out of storage next week, will double check what the inside of the bellows attachment to the bell housing looks like. There's no bellows adhesive on the ring so maybe a good sign.

get manual 14 for the drive will have a lot of info in there like where to use bellows adhesive etc. Unlike some OEMs, the merc manuals if you are reasonably handy have all the technical details and procedures to perform any needed repairs. Well worth the cost. I got mine used off ebay for less than $50.
