Apologize if this question has already been asked, but I could not find it.

2006 Alpha One Gen II water pump...the seal that fits down the shaft to the pump housing: Does the seal seat onto the housing or does the lower lip go into the housing through the housing shaft hole? From what I can gather it looks like it sits on top of the housing and is seated using the plastic tool provided. Then again, it also looks like it was made to fit nicely into the hole, but it would then rub against the top of the impeller.

Thanks in advance.

It just sits against the housing, not in it.

Make sure to use the install tool while pulling up on the driveshaft.

Make sure to remove the tool also. There's some video on YouTube where the moron leaves it on when he re-installs the lower.

I guess he wants to make a follow up video called "Outdrive Disassembly....Everything You Should Have Done In The First Place"

on that video. wow. i sure wouldn't want that cat working on my boat. wrong part names, no torque wrench, leaving tools inside the drive, filling up the drive with it trimmed full up. just a few of the things that gripe me about that. not a very good video of how to do the deed proper imho..
