Have a friend with a 1994 alpha one generation 2. I have a 1988 generation 1 with same gear ratio. How difficult is it to convert his gen 2 using my gen 1 parts? Will the transom assemblies just swap over? Obviosly shift cable is different and would have to get switched over, but what about bell housing and trim cylinders and such?

pretty difficult to make the switch, the drives and transom assy's are not compatible with each other

and the shift cables are the same

I figured the outdrives won't interchange. That's why I'm wondering how difficult it is to change everything over. I've removed and reinstalled transom assemblies before (that's not too difficult), but I'm not sure if the holes will line up gen 1 tp gen 2, or if steering linkages and things like that will just bolt right back up to the gen 1 assembly.

it may not be possible at all with parts on site depending on what engine is involved. Just sell what you got and buy what you need.
