Who woulda thought?? Heading to the water all ready to fish opening day for Florida Snook and some older fella hit the outdrive twice in about 1 minute. We were at a stop light and it only appears to have damaged the prop, hub and 2 blades but also chipped off the lower unit fin.
Any ideas what other damage I should look for? All looks good and the steering seems ok so far. Any ideas would be great, thanks

Twice ??? how did that play out ?

Consider a bolt on skeg gard that slips over whats left of your one to save labor and costs // Check the prop shaft for runout & look for any cracks

That is my biggest fear when towing. If he hit it hard enough to break the prop, the skeg and bend the hub, I would be very concerned that it bent the output shaft or bent the shaft seal. Keep an eye out for oil slicks and the drive oil level.. Hopefully the guy had insurance.

Double check the bottom transom bolts. They are aluminum and made to shear in the event of a hard crunch.

I'd be turning in a claim to his insurance. tell them to look at the boat at the mercruiser authorized service center. have them tear it apart and also have them check the transom as well.

+1 on filing an insurance claim. If someone hit me hard enough to break the skeg, I'd consider that a hard hit. And although I'm one who does my own work, in this situation, if someone else is picking up the tab, you'd better believe I'd let a qualified shop inspect for damage and make repairs.

+1 for turning it in

I had some chicky babe hit my trailer last year (40' tri-axle trailer with oversized LED lights, and wide load flags).. she told the sherif officer she saw my truck but not my trailer... not sure how that works, but that's a different conversation all together. Moral of the story, my brakes were seized up, and her insurance paid for a full conversion to electric brakes and full re-wire of the whole trailer!

That's a head scratcher! Is you 40' trailer camo painted?

I was at a flight training centre when they did the 'lost 747' demo. There is a spot on your retina (where the nerve enters) that creates a blind spot. They use a Cessna simulator cabin, and if you look at just the right (wrong) spot, an object as big as a 747 is right on that blind spot. You don't see it!
