My serial number is OC846990. From what I gather it is a gen II. Looking for some confirmation before I order an impeller. I would like to get the complete kit, with wear plate cage etc. Which one is it?

Are you sure it is Gen 2. The following site list Gen 2 serial number starting with "OD" as the prefix. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectModels3.asp?type_id=DRA

I am confused myself, but i believe it has the "swept" skeg. I ordered a gen II complete kit from boatfix.com part # SIE183147.

Anything else i will need besides basic hand tools/lube? I plan on just removing the lower unit vs. the entire drive.

I am a first timer, but I'm good with mechanical things.

Your sterndrive is a 1989 MERCRUISER ALPHA ONE STERNDRIVE.

You will want to use service manual #6 R/MR/ALPHA ONE.

argggh. You are correct sir it is an 89 model alpha and not a Gen II.

So how about it...can I do this in a day with normal hand tools. Anything I need other than the kit like gaskets and sealants?
