Hi all. Was wondering if anyone knew if removing the leg of an alpha one gen one to check exhaust outlet and grease the CV joint was a simple as removing the rams and 6 nuts and pulling it apart? I've done this and the joint has seperated a good 3/4" but has gone a little tight and i was afraid to force it using levers incase other things were still holding it on. Thanks

You have to shift it into Forward to get the shift link to disengage and slide out. It has to go back together in Forward as well.

Thanks JK will check it out. Where do the side jets of water on the upper side of the leg tap in to? Are these an exhaust too or telltale holes and where is the blockage likely to be if they be under extreme pressure when the prop centre has very little water? Sorry for so many questions, but here in England the support cannot be compared to this site. It seems all that associates most of the boat knowledgeable english with the punters is money, and LOTS OF IT! Ben

No problem!....They go into the exhaust part of the transom shield....When you get the drive off you will have to look at the exhaust passage...If you have a broken shutter it will most likely lodge in front of the shift shaft coupler....JK
EDIT: Go to the "search" function at the top of the page....type in "shutter" & member #8448..
Click on the top thread....
It will have a pic....
That big black thing doesn't belong there.... ;) ....JK
