Ok so I'm on the lake and my drive won't come up. Any suggestions? I need to trailer home, 1996 4.3 mercruiser alphaone drive. Thanks
Easiest way is to pull the rear trim ram pin out and tie the drive up.
Chris....
Thanks for all the help/ideas, it was ticking...... And luckily after about ten minutes of pushing and not pushing it came up.... So now I get to figure out my issue at the house thx again

If you just want to get it home and figure it out later, disconnect the hydraulic lines inside the boat. Make sure no oil goes in the water. Stand on the drive until it is low enough to start, drive it on the trailer then tie the drive up with a rope or something once on the trailer. Beware if you put it in reverse it will come out of the water. Otherwise need more info as Bond-o stated
Also, if drive up you may be able to stand on OD as buddy actuates down button. Done that too after boat sat up too long. I suggest examine fluid too.
... There was a manual valve on the trim motor. .... I have a older alpha drive and don't know if all have a manual bypass valve. ...
The sterndrive trim pumps haven't never had manual release valves on them. If you have one on an Alpha One (1986-1990), someone in the past has put an older outboard pump in your boat....
Chris....
I have a 83 with the oildyne pump. I guess it was eliminated that year per service bulitin 84-15. Seems like a handy feature. Anyways the aft pin on the drive holding the rams would have been my next choice.
