Been there with bad connection at one of two sylonoids near pump. There shoud be two: one for up an one for down. You should have main + lead near by. Just jump, but make sure no fuel around or may ignite fire. Connection could be erodid at noids too. No green stuff then bad connection somewhere.

If you just want to get it home and figure it out later, disconnect the hydraulic lines inside the boat. Make sure no oil goes in the water. Stand on the drive until it is low enough to start, drive it on the trailer then tie the drive up with a rope or something once on the trailer. Beware if you put it in reverse it will come out of the water. Otherwise need more info as Bond-o stated

Easiest way is to pull the rear trim ram pin out and tie the drive up.

Also, if drive up you may be able to stand on OD as buddy actuates down button. Done that too after boat sat up too long. I suggest examine fluid too.

Why are people suggesting how to get the drive down when the OP said he has a problem getting it UP?

Re: Alpha one outdrive stuck down at lake

I had the same problem earlier this year. There was a manual valve on the trim motor. Open it the get in the water and move the outdrive then tighten it. Had to hold the outdrive in the position I wanted it while it was being tightened. I have a older alpha drive and don't know if all have a manual bypass valve. It was just below the motor portion of the trim unit inside the boat. Also cleaning connections with a file got my trim cooperating once again. Cleaned every connection on the motor solienoids and it works like new

The sterndrive trim pumps haven't never had manual release valves on them. If you have one on an Alpha One (1986-1990), someone in the past has put an older outboard pump in your boat....

I have a 83 with the oildyne pump. I guess it was eliminated that year per service bulitin 84-15. Seems like a handy feature. Anyways the aft pin on the drive holding the rams would have been my next choice.

I stand corrected.
