Since I cannot see the position of my I/O a position indicator would be a great help. Both up and down and side to side. Anyone know a reasonable source of a Kit or Kits?

Ayuh,... Seriously,..?? turn the wheel, 'n pop it into gear,... then you'll know which way the drive is pointed,...
Other than with an auto-pilot, I haven't seen any tiller indicators,...

There's a trim sender that should already be on the drive,... maybe it needs Fixin',...

What vintage drive are We workin' on,..??

Assuming you have a drive from 83 or newer, there is a trim gauge sender on the starboard side of the gimbal ring, along with wiring (brown/white stripe) going to the dash that comes standard. All you need is a trim tilt gauge.

You can also buy a rudder position sender and gauge. It doesn't care if it's hooked to an outdrive or a rudder.
Here is a simple one you just glue to the center of your steering wheel. Probably does what you want.
Davis Rudder Position Indicator 385 - iboats

Or you can get fancy and expensive SI-TEX SRA-1 Rudder Indicator - Sitex - iboats

There are also others in between.
