Rather than starting another thread thought I'd ask here.

I have a 3.0LX Alpha 1 Gen 2 with power steering. Just bought a new prop as well with a higher rake it does not clear the anode. I took it out and ordered a flat one that came in the mail yesterday however its not threaded.

Planning on taking the boat out Saturday and won't have time to figure out and fish the right bolt and nut for it. Just sounds easier to order one thats threaded. Planning on taking the boat out for a few hours...would that be ok?

Welcome to iboat.

Moved this to a thread of your own. It's always best to start your own thread and not hijack someone elses thread with your question.

If it's not threaded, then it's either a goof at the manufacturer, or you ordered the wrong anode completely.

Do you know what PN you ordered?

Thanks. Ordered it off of Amazon:
Amazon.com: Martyr Aluminum Alloy Trim Tab Flat Mercury/Mercruiser Anode: Sports & Outdoors

Fit fine, its just not threaded and the bolt hole is bigger that the previous Anode. I'm more interested in being able to take the boat out without it.

Sounds like Martyr may have an issue. Even the picture doesn't show threads. Go to your local Merc dealer and get one.

Good ol' Amazon!!! I did the exact same thing when I switched over to the flat anode. After I got the unthreaded one from Amazon, I ordered the "right" one (threaded, and right alloy, as well), from right here on iboats.... very nice price and had it in a couple days. Contacted Amazon about the other one, to arrange a return and they said "just go ahead and keep it" and they refunded my money!!! Still got the "other" one on my desk as a paperweight.
Make sure you research and get the right alloy for your application.

Look up part number 76214 (mine was 76214M for magnesium for fresh water). Iboats shows a martyr flat plate tab (WITH threads!) (surprizingly, the amazon tab has the same 76214 part number with a dash 4 (-4) suffix.... go figure!)

Why buy a new one? Just take a hack saw and cut the fin off the one you have then you'll have a flat one. Very simple.

In my case the PO had overtightened it and it cracked at the threads. Wouldnt tighten up.

I think I may just do that. Just use my grinder rather than a hack saw. Will definitely be faster than trying to run to a marina. With traffic around my area, takes about 45 min one way.
