I'm having a problem reinstalling my outdrive. I got the alignment straight with the bar, greased up the yoke and went at it. The problem is that the drive will slide in to the studs and go no farther. The yoke makes the coupler and with a couter clockwise nudge i can feel it go in but then nothing. I can actually rotate the motor with the prop so I know contact is there. I read someone else's post in which Don said the new rings were most likely the problem. I took the O rings off just to see if that was the case, got the same exact result. Any ideas?
This is an alpha one drive 3.0L motor.

Thanks to all

I had the same problem. Never figured out what it was. I started over, rotated the drive shaft 180 degrees and then it just slid in like normal.

Re: Alpha One re-install

The drive shift coupler and the bellhousing coupler are both in forward. The remote is not attached to the motor and neither is the shift cable from the bell housing. I was thinking that if they weren't attached, then it would not affect the way the yoke went in to the coupler. Am I thinking incorrectly? Maybe my problem?

greased up the yoke and went at it.

That's your problem...too much grease.... do NOT put any grease at all on the O-rings. just a slight amount of oil. The grease causes the O-rings to lock-up going into the gimbal bearing. Get it where You had it before, then check all lined up, and give it a good "kick" to get that last movement.
