drive shaft on lower will not come out{lift up and out . pinion nut is off and upper bearing retainer is off .I guess the gear is stuck on the drive shaft . i think the mistake i made is i should have taken the upper bearing retainer off first Any way to get it off easy/ i have gotten this far and almost there with the brake down thanks JD

I have a piece of aluminum I stick between the prop shaft and the threads on the vertical shaft, then with a mallet, hit the prop shaft to knock the vertical shaft out of the pinion gear.

Do you have all the shimming tools to set gear heights when you put it back together? If not, you better get them if you want your drive to live.

thanks for the responce i will try that to day / i do have all the shimming tools. the upper gears are chiped thanks i think ,to a upper drive shaft u joint going south. the lowerparts look good but will have to be cleaned up .

It worked great .The next step, clean it up and see where i stand .The lower gears look good, I think i can reuse them and just change the drive shaft needle bearings they were loose a bit .Will post pic thanks JD
