I took off the sterndrive today in preparation for winer. I followed the service manual. Put gear selector into F, remove the bolts etc for the trim cylinders, and finally remove the 6 nuts holding it on. Everything went accoring to plan but this. There was a small rubber hose that attached right near the driveunit shift shaft coupler. I think I broke the plastic connector.

So what is it, and where can get a new coupler?

It IS an Alpha I Gen II, and it is for the speedometer

G1K, if you want specific answers, best to tell us what you have in your post. A year, model, make, etc. never hurts.

Not all pictures can be identified that easily.

Oops, sorry about that. 1992 Stingray with merc 3.0L. Alpha one OD (wasn't sure of generation), here is the serial number (from the sticker on the OD)

OD732853

Funny that the manual didn't mention that. Maybe I have a wrong manual?

Don S, do you know if this something I can order as a standalone part?

This is the air hose for the speedo pick up. There is a small gash in the front of your gear housing where the water/air pressure pushes the air through the tube to the speedo on the dash. This eliminates the need for a speedo (plastic) pick up to be mounted on the transon of the boat! A nice feature.
