.... and can't figure which side of the bearing faces the transom. I searched but all the links I tried didn't work properly.

it's NOT a gen 2, its a MR flavor.

You should be able to see the dot on the outer race of the bearing when the bearing is installed.

Here's the bearing I have.. no hole on the outside liker some I have seen pictures of.

The notches shown in your center picture face the front of the boat.

does the hole in the bottom of the bearing need to face to to match up with the notch in the housing?

Sorry, meant hole in housing.

Also, a seal came out with the old bearing, do I reuse it as the new kit did not come with one?

Yes, you need to replace the seal. You had the fingers of the removal tool too deep, and that destroys the seal. That seal never comes with the gimbal bearing.
