I have my Alpha Ones off for the winter. First time I've every taken them off for season. I plan on getting work done on them.

I am going to drain the OD fluid to inspect the gears before I pull upper and lower apart.

After I put upper and lower back together... Can I just leave the OD's with no fluid for a couple of months before I take apart again to install a new water pump? Or should I store the OD's with fluid in during winter months?

on my mc-1 drive, w/o a gear lub monitor, ya can take the top cap of the upper w/o removing the gear lub. the drive and driven gear are all you'll be able to see. upper or lower w/o further disassemble of the upper or lower.

why put it back together again only to take it back apart to do the impeller. ya already got it apart once. do the impeller R&R while your there the first time. put it together, pressure test it. if it passes, put yer lub back in and be done with it till next spring...

imho..

Do the impellers now, and refill with lube; a few months of storage won't hurt a thing...
